Sociology students at Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham turned a classroom activity into a memorable dinner party, debating major social issues while taking on the characters of famous sociologists.

The students discussed education, crime and the family as Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim and Germaine Greer were among the figures brought to life during the event.

The school described the scene as a “surreal experience”, with the fictional debate eventually taking place alongside cake made by student Luke.
