The Victorian Tap on Battle Hill has unveiled its first food menu since reopening under new management, giving Hexham residents a new Sunday roast option from August 23.
The historic Victorian pub relaunched more than a year ago, but the new menu marks its first food offering under the current owners. The Sunday roast is being introduced as a small, focused menu, with bookings required because seating is limited.
What is on the Sunday menu?
Guests can choose from three main dishes: roast sirloin of beef for £19, thyme, rosemary and mint-roasted leg of lamb for £17, or 12-hour slow-roasted porchetta, also priced at £17. Each option is served with traditional Sunday dinner trimmings.
The pub has also listed three desserts: sticky toffee pudding at £7, crème brûlée at £6, and white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake at £7.
New food offering follows reopening
Owner Chris Roberts announced the menu on social media, saying he was “excited” to share the news. Roberts, who is from Rothbury, had promised a small food menu after the pub reopened in May 2025.
For customers hoping to try the first Sunday roast service, the pub’s stated booking requirement is particularly important because the available seating is limited. The launch adds a new food choice at the Battle Hill venue while its owners begin delivering the menu promised after last year’s reopening.
