Families planning a visit to Brocksbushes Pumpkin Experience near Hexham this Halloween weekend will need to change their plans after Storm Boelo prompted the farm to bring forward Saturday’s closing time and cancel Sunday’s opening.
Brocksbushes Farm said the popular pumpkin experience will close at 4pm on Saturday 24 October, one hour earlier than its usual 5pm finish. The attraction will then remain closed for the whole of Sunday 25 October, which was due to be the final Sunday before Halloween.
What is changing at Brocksbushes
Visitors booked into the 4pm to 5pm slot on Saturday can still attend earlier in the day, according to an online statement from the farm. Customers who would prefer not to visit on Saturday can also move their booking to another date.
The farm said the Sunday closure was necessary because high winds were forecast as Storm Boelo moved across the North. The storm was described as the second named storm in as many days, with strong winds and heavy rain expected to affect the region during the weekend.
In a statement shared online, a farm spokesperson said: Unfortunately the weather is not on our side this weekend and safety for our customers is important to us.
How to change a booking
Customers wanting to amend their visit can log into their Digitickets account or email [email protected]. The farm said its team was working through bookings as quickly as possible and asked customers to be patient while changes were processed.
The decision affects an event that has become an annual tradition for many families across the North East. This year’s attraction had been promoted as Brocksbushes’ biggest event yet, with the promise of “immersive Halloween magic”.
Alongside the pumpkin patch, the Brocksbushes experience includes the opportunity to carve a pumpkin, family activities, live music, seasonal food and drink, and photo opportunities around the farm.
The closure is part of a wider weekend of weather-related changes across the region. Newcastle Quayside Market and South Shields Market were among the events reported as cancelled, while Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei amended their opening hours.
Visitors with tickets for Brocksbushes should check their booking arrangements before travelling, particularly if they were due to attend on Sunday or during Saturday’s final time slot.
