The Fox, a much-loved pub and live music venue on West End Terrace in Hexham, has reopened under new management.

Michael and Laura took over as tenants and reopened the pub on August 7. Their arrival follows the departure of Robbie and Peggy Newton, who had run the Hexham pub for a number of years.

A new chapter for The Fox

Peggy Newton said the couple had received a lovely send-off party before leaving. She also thanked the pub’s “amazing” and “loyal customers” for their support over the years.

She wished Laura and Michael all the best as they continue running what she described as the “lovely” Fox.

Live music and sport remain central

The wet-led pub in Hexham’s west end is a popular venue for live entertainment. The Fox hosts regular music events every Sunday, with a particular focus on rock and Northern Soul.

The venue is also known for showing live sport, particularly Newcastle United games. The reopening means the pub continues its role as a destination for live music and sporting occasions in Hexham.
