A street in Hexham has been named among the ten most expensive in the North East, after property data showed homes on The Green had an average sale price of £1,283,000 over the past three years.
The Green, in the NE46 postcode district, ranked fifth in a regional list published by ChronicleLive on 30 August 2026. The analysis places it behind streets in Morpeth, Darras Hall, Gosforth and ahead of locations in Gosforth, Jesmond and Mitford.
The Green’s property figures
Land Registry data analysed by Brickview.ai identified two sales on The Green during the three-year period. The highest recorded transaction was £2,375,000.
That average puts The Green well above the other Hexham property figures detailed in the report, although the article does not provide a wider average for house prices across the town. The ranking is based on completed transactions rather than asking prices or the value of every property on the street.
The two sales mean The Green had fewer recorded transactions than most of the other streets in the top ten. The list’s busiest location was Runnymede Road in Darras Hall, with 19 sales over the same period.
North East comparison
Gubeon Wood, in the NE61 postcode district covering the Morpeth area, topped the ranking. Its two sales averaged £1,875,000, with the highest reaching £2,700,000.
Runnymede Road came second with an average price of £1,817,371. It also recorded the highest individual sale in the table: a £6m transaction. The road is in NE20, covering Ponteland and Darras Hall.
Gosforth accounted for five of the ten entries, including Furzefield Road, Graham Park Road, Elmfield Road, Kenton Avenue and West Mews. The report said some of those streets showed a substantial difference between their average and highest sales. Elmfield Road’s average was £1,164,600, compared with a highest sale of £3,041,000, while Kenton Avenue averaged £1,140,000 and recorded a top transaction of £3,075,000.
The remaining entries were Mitchell Avenue in Jesmond and Ashford Grove in Mitford. West Mews was tenth, with an average price of £1,046,250, making the difference between the first and tenth positions approximately £829,000.
The figures offer a snapshot of high-value completed sales in and around Hexham, rather than a forecast of future prices. The source does not identify the individual properties sold on The Green or explain whether the transactions involved new-build, detached or other types of homes.
