A Hexham beauty business is celebrating a milestone after more than a year in operation, with its owner saying community support has helped the studio grow into a shared space for independent professionals.
Kay Dobson, who owns Ibrow Junkie Studio in Hexham, has more than 25 years of experience in the beauty industry. She specialises in eyebrow design and offers treatments including brow shaping, brow lamination, precision brows and the Korean Lash Lift.
Her work includes signature brow treatments based on each client’s natural features, personal style and desired result. Dobson says the aim is to create a bespoke look that enhances the individual rather than simply following a trend.
A tailored approach to brow treatments
Dobson said expertly shaped brows can make a significant difference to a person’s appearance and confidence. She also said the atmosphere inside the studio is as important as the treatment itself, with a welcoming and comfortable environment forming part of the Ibrow Junkie ethos.
The business has developed alongside Dobson’s original brow services. Over the past year, she has welcomed other independent beauty professionals to work from the studio, creating a wider choice of services for clients in one location.
“I absolutely love the atmosphere and vibe in Hexham. There are so many lovely independent businesses and such a strong sense of community,” she said.
Independent businesses working under one roof
Victoria Jackson Aesthetics is now based at the studio. Victoria Jackson, an advanced practitioner nurse and prescriber, provides anti-wrinkle treatments, skin boosters, polynucleotides, microneedling and skin rejuvenation treatments, with her approach tailored to each client.
More recently, Kayleigh, known as The Nail Artist, joined the studio. Her work includes classic French finishes, bold colours and intricate nail art, with each set designed specifically for the client.
The additions mean Ibrow Junkie Studio now brings together brow treatments, aesthetics and nail services while each professional continues to operate an individual business.
“It’s lovely to be surrounded by other passionate professionals,” Dobson said. “We each have our own individual businesses and areas of expertise, but it creates a really lovely atmosphere and gives clients the opportunity to enjoy a range of specialist beauty and aesthetics treatments all in one welcoming space.”

Dobson said watching the studio become a base for other independent professionals had been one of the rewarding parts of her business journey. She credited clients who had visited, recommended the studio or supported the business as it developed.
“Since opening Ibrow Junkie, the business has grown and evolved in ways I’m incredibly proud of, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received,” she said.
She added that she was proud of how far the studio had come and excited about its future in Hexham.
