A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured when a motorbike and another vehicle collided at the junction of Battle Hill and Eastgate in central Hexham.

Northumbria Police received a report of the crash at around 5.30pm on Sunday, August 9. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering serious injuries, although police said they were not believed to be life-threatening.

Road closed after collision

Battle Hill was closed for a short period while emergency services attended the scene and the vehicles were recovered. The road was reopened a short time later.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said:

“It was reported that a motorbike had collided with a vehicle.
“Emergency services attended the scene and the rider of the bike – a woman aged 23 – was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
“The road was closed for a short while to allow for vehicle recovery and was re-opened a short time later.”

The crash happened in the centre of Hexham, at the meeting point of Battle Hill and Eastgate. No further information about the circumstances of the collision or the rider’s condition was provided in the report.
