A Hexham man has been banned from driving for 12 months after admitting to dangerous driving in a police vehicle on the A68 in Northumberland.
Gareth Gear, 40, of Linnel Wood, Hexham, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on August 19. He pleaded guilty to dangerously driving a Peugeot 3008 northbound on the A68 between Kiln Pitt Hill and the A69 Styford roundabout.
Court hearing and driving ban
The offence took place on March 21, and the court heard that a police vehicle was involved. Gear was disqualified from driving for 12 months, with the ban remaining in place until he passes an extended retest.
He was also fined £800 and ordered to pay £85 in costs, together with a £320 surcharge.
What happens next
Gear will remain off the road until the driving ban ends and he completes the required extended retest. The case involved a section of the A68 northbound route linking the area around Kiln Pitt Hill with the A69 Styford roundabout.
