House prices in Hexham have fallen by more than £11,000, while property values in several other Northumberland towns have moved in the opposite direction.
The average Hexham home sold for £323,765 after prices dropped 3.3% over the latest 12-month period. The figures come from HM Land Registry data analysed by Northumberland estate agency Our Agents.
What the Hexham figures show
The analysis covered 277 property sales in Hexham. Detached homes recorded the highest average price in the town, at £491,897.
The fall in Hexham forms part of a mixed picture across Northumberland, with some locations recording substantial increases while others also saw prices weaken.
How other Northumberland areas performed
Rothbury recorded the largest rise among the areas analysed. Its average house price increased by 16.4% to £340,409, although that result was based on only 49 sales.
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea recorded a 14.5% increase to £151,838, while Bedlington prices rose 2.5% to £191,526.
Prices also fell in several other parts of the county. Alnwick recorded a 15% decline to £315,034, Ashington dropped 11.4% to £134,489 and Morpeth fell 5.4% to £296,378. Morpeth had the highest number of sales in the analysis, with 739 transactions.
Ponteland remained the most expensive area included in the comparison, with homes selling for an average of £539,812.
